The Henson Creature Shop (London) commissioned 2Ci to create the video backdrop for the opening act of the 2005 British Music Awards by Scissor Sisters. One of the band members is called Animatronix, and ever since seeing The Muppet Show as kids, an ambition of the Scissor Sisters was to perform with puppets from the Creature Shop. The die was cast for the most memorable opening to the Brit Awards.
The video graphics backdrop for the LED wall were simple - starting as a black solid, evolve into twinkling stars, and as the song ‘Take Your Mama’ progressed, the skyline breaks into the hues of a summers dawn, with a flock of animated birds drawn by Jamie Courtier‘s (Henson’s Art Director) doing finale fly-by. The band and the puppets (which included singing water melons, a dancing barn, eggs with legs, swinging fences & telegraph poles and a 16ft tall pink bird) were the absolute focus of the show. And to judge from the wide eyed, smiling faces of the audience at Earl’s Court, it truly was a fantastic spectacle.
