2Ci was approached by Balance Marketing to provide video graphics for the launch of Speedo’s swimwear and Olympic Team, for the Athens Olympics 2005. The venue was designed like a scientific underwater lab, where you entered the main hall through an underwater tunnel (video screens showing deep ocean life and eery underwater footage). The main room had eleven individual screens, one for each of the Speedo athletes, and one large screen above the main stage with its catwalk. The graphic content for the eleven screens communicated the technology and design influence for the swimwear textile, namely shark DNA. By imitating the sharks skin texture, a reduction in bubbles attaching themselves to the swimwear would allow for less drag and faster movement through the water. The launch consisted of very fast clubland, party style, technology led graphics, which was cross faded on cue into slow branded imagery and static images of individual Speedo athletes.
